Peritoneal and omental rule 1:Peritoneal anatomy

-Peritoneum is formed of a serous membrane as the pleura and can be classified into intraperitoneal, retroperitoneal and subperitoneal spaces..
-We can classify the internal abdominal organs as intra or retro peritoneal organs.
-In healthy state, peritoneum cannot be seen by imaging modalities.
-Retroperitoneal organs are the following
Duodenum except its bulb.
Pancreas and kidney.
Ascending and descending colon.
The rest of the organs are situated intraperitoneally.
