Male pelvis rule11 : Ureteric dilatation

1-The most common cause is ureteric stones.
2-The most important cause is neoplastic obstruction by transitional cell carcinoma while squamous cell carcinoma and metastases are less common in this situation.
3-Ureteric obstruction could be unilateral or bilateral.
4-Causes of bilateral ureteric dilatation:
-Cancer urinary bladder.
-Bladder outlet obstruction.
-Prune belly syndrome.
-Diabetes insipidus.
-Primary mega ureter and reflux.
5-Causes of unilateral dilatation:
-Primary mega ureter and vesicoureteric reflux.

Transrectal ultrasound revealed a stone in the distal ureter.
